The Vedge Deck
A conceptual passion project exercising my hyper visualization skills through phases of ideation sketching, iterative CAD modeling, and 3-D rendering. Freestyle scootering is an extreme action sport that emerged in the late 90s. Since then not only has its following as an extreme action sport expanded but so has its industry, market, and the scooters themselves. Scooter components and completes have evolved tremendously since the Razor Ultra pro days. For this project, I wanted to design a scooter deck, the most dominant, valuable, and significant part of the freestyle scooter. I landed with the Vedge Deck.
Landing
After 3 series of iterations and refinements, I landed on the Vedge Deck. Exposing architectural V-shaped ribbing through the hollow core of the deck ties conceptually into the branding and design language The intricate ribbing also serves as a structural feature preventing deck bends, cracks, or snaps where it is most prone to near the base of the forged headtube and middle of the deck plate. Lastly, this unique feature differentiates itself from other decks on the market and is designed by a rider for riders.
